Performance and Usage
The Bionaire window fan is easy to set up: it fits most common window sizes, and the extender allows you to install the fan on windows of other sizes. The fan is around 8.5 inches and doesn’t make a loud noise when running (though the beeping is quite loud). There are 3 speed options: low, medium and high.
The electronic controls respond quickly, and the built-in thermostat and temperature readout are easy to read. The instruction manual is detailed, but operation is very easy anyway: just choose a speed and pick exhaust, intake or exchange and it’s set.
You can run the Bionaire manually or configure the unit so it shuts down when a specific temperature is reached. The temperature controls are adjacent to the readout. You also get access to most of these controls on the remote. You can toggle between manual/auto mode, air direction, fan speed and on/off on the remote.
You cannot turn the readout off, but you can lower or increase brightness. Just like with all window fans, you must provide a ventilation source i.e. a window must be open for air exhaust or intake. With another window open, you’ll notice that the air will cool down and feel more comfortable.
The Bionaire does a very good job of cooling air, but it is also one of the most durable window fans. The heavy-duty motor does not overheat easily. The exchange air mode is appropriate if you don’t have a lot of open windows, and the results are still good.
Overall the Bionaire provides reliable, consistent performance. The controls respond quickly, and the remote control is another convenience. The difference between the Bionaire and a regular fan is significant, and you will feel it once you try it.
Even the most powerful fan is of no help if just circulates hot air inside your home, and that is where the Bionaire comes in. The temperature around your home makes a difference of course, but there’s no question the Bionaire can cool down a room.
Should You Buy it?
The Bionaire has the features most homeowners need in a window fan. It only takes a few minutes to install, and its remote control means you can manage the settings without having to be right next to the unit.
The unit is also a good choice for those who want a programmable window fan: the instructions make this easy to do so even a first-timer can customize it. It’s also a good choice for people who want their fan to perform a specific function such as removing hot air or drawing cool air in.
The user interface is friendly and it is dependable too. Like other window fans it is designed for long-term, heavy-duty use. It doesn’t require a lot of maintenance and the 5-year warranty is another plus.
The Bionaire window fan is suitable for those living in hot areas as well as those where the temperature fluctuates a lot. If you fall under any of these situations, you may want to take a serious look at the Bionaire.
If you’re still unsure of what window fan to get, you won’t go wrong with the Bionaire. It is well designed, durable and its functions are easy to program.
While it employs a lot of electronic controls the Bionaire Window Fan is still easy to use. The fact that it has a very comprehensive warranty is another benefit.
Bionaire has earned a reputation for making solid window fans, and this model is one of their best efforts. It is not without flaws, but when you consider all of its benefits such as the ease of setup and consistency it is an outstanding product and deserves our recommendation.
